Brian Pailes, Principal Engineer of VCS Engineering, published an article in the March/April 2019 issue of Concrete Repair Bulletin themed Resiliency: Above and Beyond Concrete Restoration. His article "Electrochemical Treatments Significantly Extend the Service Life of Reinforced Concrete Structures" details the use of Electrochemical Chloride Extraction (ECE) on the I-480 bridge substructures in Omaha, NE (completed in 1998) and Re-akalization (Realk) to resolve carbonated concrete corrosion at the Historic University Hall Facade at the University of Chicago.
